In developing web contenct around your book. Keep looking for what will encourage readers, bloggers, and even the press to link to you.. spreading the word about your book
Using the same strategies as you would in good PR, this is a great way to linkbait (provide bait to get a link)
It’s easy to find ideas.. in fact, some of the best ideas are from people writing about linkbaiting
like this one
The Link Baiting Playbook: Hooks Revisited – Stuntdubl – Search Engine Marketing Consultant
After a few great best seller launching last month, it going to get tougher for a while. Harry Potter has a new book release
Ben Mack Think Two Products Ahead is still doing well. Thousands have signed up at the promo web site.
But will will the latest Potter book sell well at a list price of $34.90
WSJ.com has a poll going.. when I checked the “way too much” option was winning by a landslide.
A poll is a terrible way to judge the pricing decision. Since the marketers here are pretty bright.. I would imagine they think the list price of books could be higher.
Do you want to be a best seller?
Watch what Ben Mack is doing today… (note: the 2nd to last number is the Amazon rank.. and the book just came out this morning 1/28)

By 2 am it was #114 and will certainly hit the top of Amazon by morning.
Ben Mack is a marketing genius. He’s been behind some of the biggest names in corporate America, and now consults with most of the top marketers I know
It was easy for us to line up lists with millions of readers.. then Ben got us all going with just enough controversy to keep people talking about this for days.
A marketing book in public discussion forums?
A MySpace page for Ben’s Fictional Character?
Many oddities in this one.. but well worth the effort to follow. Buy Ben Mack’s new book.. and make sure you hop on board his mailing list to discover how a genius promotes his book.

‘Alpha Moms’ pitch Nintendo Wii – Los Angeles Times: “At a time when the media audience is fragmenting, it doesn’t hurt to build a little enthusiasm with such grass-roots campaigns, said Peter Sealy, a former chief marketing officer for the Coca-Cola Co. who will teach marketing at the Peter Drucker and Masatoshi Ito Graduate School of Management at Claremont Graduate University.
‘I think you’re seeing more of this, especially in those categories where word of mouth is a powerful motivator,’ he said. ‘The purchase of cars, fine wines, dining. You’ve got to get a buzz going.’
Nintendo learned from its experience in Japan that it could succeed by developing games for a market its rivals largely ignored — adults over 30 and so-called lapsed gamers, who no longer have hours to devote to getting really good at a video game.
